Planning to sell my used (luxury) car - value around $20K - body has some dings, scratches. May sell to ?

Carmax or private party or eBay. Is it worth putting in $500 to remove most of these blemishes, or $1000 to remove them all? In other words, will such an investment return more than that in sale price?|||What car is it? Without providing any info about the make, model, year, mileage, etc.....there's no way to tell whether your estimate of $20k is accurate or not.

I've bought and sold quite a few cars. Somewhere around 20-25. From personal experience, when I go to buy a car, and someone tells me that it recently had it's body damage fixed, the first thing I do is knock off about 10% of what they're asking. Because what that tells me, is that they had no interest in maintaining the car on their own, and only got it fixed to ask a higher price in selling it.

Just like how people will avoid cars that are listed, and you can tell the ground is wet around the car. It's a common gimmick to wet a car down before taking pictures, because it makes the paint look better.

So, it's up to you. If you get it all fixed, I'd keep your asking price. That way, people will see the reasonable price, and find out that you invested in it, and consider it a bonus to them. Will definitely help your car sell better.
