Why do you have to pay sales tax on a used car?

If the person that originally buys a car pays sales tax, why do you have to pay sales tax on a used car? Example: first buyer pays tax on a car valued at $30,000, then sell the car for $20,000, the next person sells it for $10,000. Each person has to pay taxes on the amount sold? The prior person gets no sales tax rebate? Why?|||That's how the government works.

It doesn't just occur on used cars, but if you follow the law, the government taxes everything whenever it changes hands.

Did you know: That even if you pay a Redemption Fee on bottles and cans, you are suppose to report any money that you got back on your tax forms when you recycle the bottle and cans.

Why do you have to pay tax on an inheritance? I mean if your parents or grand parents already paid taxes on the money they made, why do you have to pay a tax when they give it to you? (Which is why some grand parents "will" their money directly to their grand children to save on how often it get's taxed).

The government always wants their share, it's how they support the "community".|||In Illinois, you don't have to pay sales tax when you buy a used car. But everything else like candy bar's and cigs etc. are taxed higher to make up for it.|||you pay tax on just about everything|||Double taxation be damned!!!

Didn't we throw tea over the side of a boat in Boston? Oh no, that's right, It was those pesky injuns.|||Because our tax system is out of control.

What I can't figure out is how they get away with taxing an intangible...

our Labor!|||BECAUSE THE MAFIA WANTS ITS SHARE.
