It seems that kelley blue book and the NADA book are both over priced guides to make the customer think they are getting a great deal. Is there a true value of a car? Or is it just whatever the market is?|||Yes, they are both guides and although they will gladly place a value on your car, they will not cut a check for the amount they claim. Kbb.com is typically the most unreliable source, however, trade values for the exact car can vary per location and it's impossible for any website to keep up with the supply %26amp; demand of a particual used vehicle.
The true value of any car is what the buyer is willing to pay, plain and simple. There is no all knowing book or website that can tell you what your car is worth. Carmax will gladly appraise your car and give you a value which they will stand behind. Good luck and I hope this helps.|||ya, kbb is out of whack. Nada is better, but not perfect. The auction has what they call, M.M.R. it is a report on price for what the car just sold for at the auctions all across America.
I have found that autotrader, craigslist, ebay etc..If you go on these sites and you look at a 1999 accord and the average retail price is $5495 then that is what that car is worth, it does not matter that KBB says the car is worth $7400......It is worth what someone will pay and in this case it is......$5495....So do your own market research and figure out a price and you will be fine.|||The value of a car is what the buyer is willing to pay. KBB might over price somethings sometimes, but usually it is a good place to start.|||I try to find out what the market is for a car by browsing a site like GetItDaisy.com
